Vishay Ultrafast Diodes Optimize System Switching Loss

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc released 11 new Gen2 650V FRED Pt ultrafast diodes . "H" series die devices are suitable for applications with frequencies above 40kHz, with extremely fast and soft recovery times, as well as low forward voltage drop and reverse peak current, reducing solar inverters, UPS, electric vehicles and Switching losses in hybrid vehicles, welders, servers, and continuous conduction mode power factor correction (CCM PFC). Designed to meet user needs, the "U" series can be used in applications up to 40 kHz with a much lower forward voltage drop to optimize conduction losses.

The Vishay ultrafast diode released this time has a rated current of 2A to 150A. The device's high isolation voltage allows the designer to provide additional safety margins and increase power density in the final product. Vishay offers equivalent packaged devices upon request.

To maximize efficiency, the diode provides a wide range of forward voltage to reverse recovery time ratios. At +25°C (di/dt=200A/μs), the typical reverse recovery time of the device is only 28ns, and the typical forward voltage is as low as 1.38V. For a more robust and cost-effective design, the diode's maximum operating junction temperature is +175°C.
