The Internet of Things platform system must have five major components

Any IoT implementation (regardless of size) should contain five components, which I think provides a good organization and framework for thinking about IoT and annual forecasts.

The following is my important summary and insights on this year's situation!

1. hardware equipment)

From microcontrollers (such as the Raspberry Pi or Beagle Bone with ARM cores) to semiconductors and sensors, IoT originates from interconnected hardware, devices and things. Although smart cities (smart lighting, smart meters and smart garbage collection, etc.) and connected manufacturing will rely on the development of IoT devices, users are still pursuing smart home technologies every day, such as smart devices (Nest thermostats), virtual auxiliary devices. (Amazon Echo with Alexa) or Smart Camera System (Withings Home). The IoT Development Kit is scrambling to help developers get involved in the IoT space (techworld and ZDNet are on the leaderboard).

In 2017, as edge architectures (or fog architectures) became an essential part of the IoT implementation, it will revolutionize the gateway. The IoT solution will be built to run across distributed architectures and connect to devices, gateways and cloud services. Because IoT devices generate so much data (big data), edge devices will need to be smarter to keep up with the situation. By combining servers and gateways into these edge devices, the IoT implementation can include more analytics, storage, and networking capabilities at the edge of the network than just providing them in the cloud. (The Watson IoT Platform recently added an Edge Analytics SDK. Try this guide: Getting Started with Edge Analytics.)

2. Network (connectivity)

The IoT solution is more than just a Wi-Fi or cellular solution. The new form of wireless connectivity will continue to evolve and be more widely available to IoT developers. If the standard protocols are not better integrated, the hardware and software platforms will need to clarify many of the connectivity options. Now just consider this short list of cellular network protocols: LPWAN, mesh network, NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT) and LTE-M. Other vendors, such as cable or security alert companies, will join the game to create a bridge that covers the entire home for smart home devices.

3. Remote management (user interface for IoT applications)

Although there is no information about the IoT implementation of this component in the 2017 forecast, it is important to remember that users of the IoT solution need a simple, easy-to-use, and easy-to-understand user interface. Otherwise, the IoT solution won't be successful; that's it.

4. Platform (message, analysis, and data storage capabilities of the IoT solution)

The IoT platform combines the messaging, analytics, and data storage capabilities of the IoT solution. Although there are many competitors in this field, the 2017 forecast implies that many competitors will give up competition or be “swallowed up” by competitors. IBM, Microsoft, and Amazon are among the best in most lists, and many other competitors are constantly planning. (In the Forrester Wave report for the fourth quarter of 2016, IBM was named the leader in the IoT software platform.) In order to mine all incoming data from a large number of IoT devices, the IoT platform's analysis components will become more and more The more important. 5. Security Protocol

Q IoT: IoT Security

In October 2016, IoT devices were used for DDOS attacks. One of the predictions for 2017 is that there will be one or more large-scale security breaches involving IoT solutions that are expanding into the transportation, manufacturing, and government industries. Many standards and regulators are releasing security frameworks, and the IoT platform is also reinforcing their security features. (The IBM Watson IoT Platform is compliant with the ISO 27001 security standard and is open beta for the latest security features.) As more and more devices enter a variety of networks, hackers will continue to experiment with all brands and sizes. IoT system. I believe we will also publish one or two articles about IoT and security this year, just like last year.

Blockchain technology will be integrated with IoT technology to provide a way to protect distributed transactions in many enterprise IoT solutions.
