From car to super robot! Li Shufu's future car

On November 16, the Third World Internet Conference was opened in Wuzhen, a water town in the south of the Yangtze River.

Li Shufu, chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, known as the “automobile geek”, once again appeared in Wuzhen as the only representative of the auto industry and brought the latest achievement of Volvo Smart Car – the Volvo S90 long wheelbase luxury sedan.

In an interview with the media, Li Shufu described to reporters the future of smart cars in his eyes.

Reporter: Internet + car has become a major trend in recent years. What do you think the Internet car in the future will look like?

Li Shufu: The smart interconnection of automobiles will lead to a series of changes, including changes in consumer travel and lifestyle; changes in IT and communications technology; changes in infrastructure; changes in human culture and social processes.

The product form of autos will also undergo a fundamental change. Industrial manufacturing 4.0 and personalized customization are inevitable trends. Changes in business models have started from e-commerce, maintenance, auto finance, used cars, and talent training, and have gradually extended to the front end of the supply chain. Design, development and production.

Therefore, I believe that the future of the Internet car is to organically integrate the car and the Internet, to achieve intelligent human-machine interaction, automation of electromechanical implementation, driving line information, and ultimately achieve full automatic driving, so that the car becomes a super robot to serve the transportation industry. .

The Internet car of the future also needs to follow the “human-respecting” principle, and it must be highly intelligent and humane in order to liberate mankind’s time in the car and re-enjoy humanity’s driving pleasure.

Reporter: What kind of technological route will your Internet car turn into reality?

Li Shufu: Vehicle networking, artificial intelligence, and automatic driving are the three major technologies for smart connected cars in the future. Automated driving is the direction in which the three are integrated. For Volvo Cars, it has been active in the forefront of automotive technology, and it started developing autopilot many years ago, and it has now entered the second stage of development.

While other Internet companies are still discussing autopilot, Volvo has pushed autopilot from the experimental stage to the mass production stage and began "iteration." The XC90, which was launched in 2015, is the world's first car with a high degree of autopilot (working range is within 50 kilometers per hour). The new S90 long-wheelbase limousine on display at the conference will be equipped with the most advanced second-generation autopilot auxiliary function. It can achieve speeds from 0 to 130 kilometers per hour without having to follow the car. Discernable lane markings driving and steering. This car also has two world-first smart security technologies: road departure prevention and protection system + large-scale animal detection system.
