December 2, 2015 – Mouser Electronics is now distributing OSLON Black Flat LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. These multi-chip white LED packages for headlights are compact and produce higher brightness than other similar products, giving manufacturers, car headlights and work light manufacturers greater design freedom.
Mouser's OSRAM OSLON Black Flat LEDs are small, high-throughput light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that provide high brightness and stability in a thin SMD-4 epoxy package. This series of LEDs uses GaN-based UX:3 chip technology to provide extremely high luminous flux even at high currents. This high brightness is emitted from a relatively small package, enabling a very compact headlight design. This LED is surface mount technology (SMT) that can be easily mounted on a printed circuit board and then further processed as part of a standard soldering process. This soldering performance ensures that LEDs can be integrated into a simple, standardized process, reducing the complexity of the processing steps, saving significant time and cost, especially when compared to previous versions of multi-chip LEDs. This black QFN package is similar to the board's expansion coefficient during cyclic temperature loading, meaning that the solder joints are subjected to much less tension and the solder joints are greatly enhanced.
The 500-lm KW H2L531.TE LED has a low thermal resistance of 1.6 K/W (typ. LED only), a luminous intensity of 174.9 cd, and 0.32 (Cx) and 0.33 (Cy) chromaticity according to CIE 1931. The 250-lm LUW HWQP LED has a low thermal resistance of 4.3 K/W (typical, LED only), a luminous intensity of 87.5 cd, and 0.33 (Cx) and 0.34 (Cy) chromaticity. Both models have a 120° divergence angle at 50% illumination intensity.
