Is this just the beginning? Comparison of four DDR4 memory overclocking effects

Some people have previously said that the frequency limit of DDR4 memory is 5000MHz , but at the recent computer show in Taiwan, some of the memory default frequency has reached 4400MHz , it seems that the frequency limit of 5000MHz will soon be realized, which also shows that 5000MHz is not currently The limit of DDR4 . (The current world record for DDR4 memory frequency is 4903.6 MHz .) I currently use four DDR4 memories and found that they are all easily overclocked, and the overclocking rate is not small, which is very difficult to meet in the era of DDR3 .

1 : Apacer Blade DDR4 3000 Memory

The first product is the yufeng knife memory DDR4 3000 memory. This memory in my hands is a set product. It is composed of two yuyao blade front fighter DDR4 3000 memory. Each memory capacity is 4G , adding up to 8g , and the capacity feels a bit small. .

This memory " vest " is very personal, the default frequency of this memory is 2133MHz , after opening XMP , can reach 3000MHz easily .

The memory specification is 4GB UNB PC4-24000 CL 16-16-16-36 , where PC4 stands for Desktop DDR4 . 24000 is named after bandwidth, 300064/8=19200 (calculation of memory bandwidth: bandwidth = frequency Bit width /8 ), 3000 is the DDR equivalent frequency, 16-16-16-36 is the memory timing.

Overclocking the yufeng blade DDR4 3000 memory. After several tests, it was found that this memory can only reach 3200MHz . This comparison made me surprised. At this time, its timing is 15-15-15-36 , TRFC is 434 , and CR is 2T .

In the AIDA64 software, scores are displayed at a frequency of 3200MHz . In the Memory Benchmark test, the Read , Write , and Copy speeds (in MB/S ) are 43608 , 46086 , and 38979 , respectively .

2 : Apacer Panther DDR4 Memory

The second product is Apacer Panther DDR4 memory. Its heat sink design is very individual. The image of the leopard is very eye-catching. Both the leopard and PANTHER words are directly pressed on the metal heat sink, and the concave and convex effect is obvious. Great temperament.

The specification of this memory is 8GB UNB DDR4 2400 CL 16-16-16-36 , among them CL 16-16-16-36 is the memory sequence, working voltage 1.2V , support Intel XMP2.0 . Located in entry-level products.

Apacer Panther DDR4 memory overclocking, through multiple tests and found that this memory can exceed 3000MHz , then its timing is 16-18-18-38 , TRFC is 300 , CR is 2T .

When the memory frequency is 3000MHz , in the Memory Benchmark test of AIDA64 software , the speeds of Read , Write , and Copy (in MB/S ) are 40481 , 45623 , and 40559 , respectively .

3 : Apsara Commando Commando DDR4 2400 Memory

The third model is the Commando Optix DDR4 2400 Memory ( 4GX4 ) Kit. This is a very special product, 4GX4 combination is still relatively rare, and now most of the 8GX2 combination.

Apacer Commando DDR4 2400 Memory ( 4GX4 ) Kit with 4GB RAM, UNB PC4-19200 CL 16-16-16-36 , PC4 stands for Desktop DDR4 . 19200 is named after bandwidth, 240064/8=19200 (memory bandwidth calculation formula: bandwidth = frequency Bit width /8 ), 2400 is the DDR equivalent frequency, 16-16-16-36 is the memory timing, this memory overclocking potential is not small, but also I have used the best overclocking products.

Through multiple tests, Apacer’s Commando DDR4 2400 Memory ( 4GX4 ) Kit can exceed 3466MHz . Open the CPU-Z software, you can see the memory operating frequency is 3466MHz . The timing of the memory at this frequency is 16-16-16-36 , the TRFC of the memory is 390 clocks, and the CR is 2T .

In the AIDA64 software, scores are displayed at a frequency of 3466 MHz. In the Memory Benchmark test, the speeds of Read , Write , and Copy (in MB/S ) are 45151 , 50343 , and 44147 , respectively . Apacer’s commando Commando DDR4 2400 memory ( 4GX4 ) package is set to exceed 3466MHz , and its timing is still 16-16-16-36 . Memory TRFC is 390 clocks and CR is 2T . Scores in AIDA64 software are also omitted. There is improvement. It can be seen that the overclocking performance of this memory is still good. Unlike some memory, timing after overclocking becomes larger, performance is degraded, and some are not worth the candle.

4 : A-DATA XPG Veyron DDR4 2400 Memory

The last one is A-DATA's XPG Veyron DDR4 2400 memory ( 8GX2 ). Although it is two memory, it is not a packaged product.

A-DATA XPG Veyron DDR4 2400 memory has a timing of 16-16-16-36 and a voltage of 1.2V .

My hands used this two-DATA XPG memory Veyron DDR4 2400, through several tests, the highest frequency can only be stable at 2750MHz, voltage of 1.312V. Open the CPU-Z software, you can see the memory operating frequency is 2750MHz . At this frequency, A-DATA's XPG Veyron DDR4 2400 memory has a timing of 15-15-15-35 , memory TRFC is 390 clocks, and CR is 2T .

In the AIDA64 software, scores are displayed at a frequency of 2750 MHz. In the Memory Benchmark test, the read , write , and copy speeds (in MB/S ) are 37765 , 41581 , and 37110 , respectively .

Summary: Perhaps many people now think that compared to DDR3 , DDR4 has not changed much and its performance is limited. The overall performance is not as good as it seems. However, the era of DDR4 memory is only just beginning. The development behind it will still be very promising.
