Google will distribute 1 million VR devices to schools for free

Google CEO Sudnar Pichai announced that it will provide VR equipment to 1 million school children in the UK. Google will also launch a new program designed to provide free digital skills training for everyone in the UK.

After becoming CEO, as part of Pichai's first visit to the UK, he announced the new Google Expeditions. The Expeditions plan includes supporting hardware and content that can be used with the course. Through VR, teachers can teach museums, underwater or space content courses in VR.

Google’s Expeditions team will visit children in Edinburgh, Cardiff, Newcastle, and Belfast district schools in the coming months to provide VR devices for one million children.

Pichai said that VR can use exciting and immersive ways to inspire students' imaginations and help them learn about how blood flows in the body or how climate change affects the Great Barrier Reef.

The program is open to any school that is supposed to be free. Teachers can apply to the Google Expeditions team to visit their school.

During his visit to Pichai, he also announced Google’s new plan - providing five hours of free digital skills training for those who want to change jobs or seek business development.

Picahi said: "Whatever you live in, wherever you come from, and no matter what your job is, there are all the information, education and opportunities you want to visit on the Internet."

"Our goal is to ensure that every individual and company in the UK has the support they need to take full advantage of online tools to innovate, compete and achieve a fruitful career in the digital age."
