At 7:49 on April 14th, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake occurred in Yushu County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. According to Ying Guoqiang, a staff member of Yingli Group, Yingli Group donated more than 400,000 items worth 50,000 solar street lights and 200 solar flashlights to the earthquake-stricken areas. These materials are transported by Yingli’s fleet and will arrive in Yushu three days later and donate to the local civil affairs department.
"Now the earthquake-stricken areas need lighting equipment most, and there is no electricity. So we choose to donate solar lighting products, which is very practical." Yinglian Group head Miao Liansheng told the author.
"As long as there is a big disaster, Yingli Group will lend a helping hand. This is our fine tradition. The enterprise has developed, and if it has money, it must be repaid to the society. This is the social responsibility of the company." Before the departure of the team, Miao Liansheng warned his employees.
In the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, Yingli Group also provided 200 solar flashlights to the earthquake-stricken areas and donated 11.07 million yuan for disaster relief.
