First, we should improve the efficiency of waste-to-energy generation in China. Second, we need to expedite the launch of waste-to-energy projects. Since the waste-to-energy process generates many positive benefits, it also excretes harmful substances. In general, people in areas where big cities, especially those with good environmental protection work, do not generally accept waste power plants. The public lacks sufficient knowledge of waste-to-energy and largely suppresses the development of waste-to-energy.

Finally, we should improve our laws, regulations and policies on waste power generation as soon as possible. The subsidy policy for waste-to-energy power generation has not yet been issued in a timely manner, and power subsidies and concession funds for related companies cannot be put in place in time. This has greatly weakened the enthusiasm of power plants for waste generation. At this point, the government must also improve relevant laws and regulations to support the waste-to-energy industry.

Compared with domestic waste power generation abroad is at a relatively mature stage. The work of commercialization, high-efficiency power generation, and low discharge of pollutants have done very well. European countries have included waste-to-energy in national key laws and provided a solid legal guarantee for the good implementation of waste-to-energy projects.

The market competition of the waste power generation industry in China is still insufficient, and the overall gross profit rate of the urban domestic waste treatment industry in China is still at a relatively high level. Local governments and related companies should focus on waste generation and sewage treatment technologies, strengthen the efficiency of waste generation, and make more efforts on the selection of waste power plants.
