The world's first single-channel 400GBPS fiber link is officially put into operation

On February 19, Alcatel-Lucent announced that it will help France Telecom Orange to deploy the world's first single-channel optical fiber link with a capacity of 400Gbps. Following the successful completion of the field test, the 400Gbps fiber link deployed between Paris and Lyon is now officially in operation. The link is deployed in the operating environment of France Telecom Orange's current network-this breakthrough achievement has important milestone significance for the development of long-distance land-based network technology.

The fiber optic link can provide four times the network capacity of the highest bandwidth, and can transmit up to 17.6Tbps network traffic through 44 channels.

This breakthrough achievement demonstrates that France Telecom Orange is committed to achieving sustainable growth in network performance to meet the increasing demands of users for large-capacity network bandwidth and the higher requirements for deployment flexibility in the mass market and enterprise customers. Upgrading the existing network infrastructure will help corporate customers to use existing services more smoothly, continue to promote the advent of new services such as video (video on demand, telepresence), and meet the needs of these services for high bandwidth and seamless connectivity.

In addition, this energy-saving innovative technology will also help France Telecom Orange fulfill its commitment, reduce energy consumption, and optimize operation and network maintenance costs.
