Littelfuse , Inc., a global leader in circuit protection, today announced a family of transient suppression diode arrays (SPA? Diodes) designed to protect PoweredUSB interface DC lines from destructive electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.
SP11xx Series TVS Diode Array
The SP11xx family of TVS diode arrays uses Zener diodes fabricated in proprietary silicon avalanche technology to protect each input/output pin in the interface. This powerful device features high surge tolerance and the highest per square millimeter surge density of all Littelfuse TVS diode arrays, with very low dynamic resistance at all relevant voltage levels of the PoweredUSB interface. It safely absorbs ±30kV of repetitive ESD shock without sacrificing performance and safely dissipates 80A of 8/20μs surge current at very low clamping voltages.
The SP11xx family of TVS diode arrays limits the rapid transients associated with plugging in AC/DC converters that can introduce dirty current into the battery, preventing premature damage or heat problems associated with fast charging batteries on tablets and smartphones. It can also be used to protect Vbus lines of USB 3.1C type interfaces, which are becoming more and more common in handheld devices.
Other applications for SP11xx transient suppression diode arrays include ESD protection for switches/buttons, test equipment/instruments, point-of-sale terminals, medical devices, laptops/desktops/servers, computer peripherals, and automotive electronics.
