Hella Corporation of Germany announced that it will supply LED headlamps to US General Motors' SUVs (Multi-Functional Sports Cars) for North America. The characteristics of the new LED headlamps are: not only the low beam and the high beam, but also the LED light source. GM will be equipped with the headlamps on the "Cadillac Escalade Platinum" that began production in the summer of 2008.
Toyota's "Lexus LS600h" LED headlamps, which were launched in May 2007, use only LEDs for low beam lamps and the original halogen lamps for high beam lamps. Hella said that Europe will approve the use of LED high beam and LED low beam headlights before 2008.
