The SF-16A rod-like thin-layer chromatography is an instrument developed by Yamaha Instruments after many years of development. The instrument is mainly used for the analysis and testing of crude oil, heavy oil, residual oil, wax oil, oil slurry, lubricating oil, chromatographic fixative fluid and grease. Samples can be quickly analyzed for saturated hydrocarbons, aromatics, gums, asphaltenes. The analysis cycle is as quick as 2 hours, saving 96% of the analysis time compared to traditional solvent elution (solvent analysis requires 48 hours for one sample). Completely closed process, the operator does not need to contact toxic and hazardous solvents, which greatly protects the health and safety of the experimenter. The use cost is greatly reduced, and the use cost is only 1% of the traditional elution. The latest type of SF-16A rod-type thin-layer chromatograph adopts electronic flow control technology and high-precision CNC machining technology. It adopts a large-screen Chinese-language touch screen, which is very reliable in both analytical data and instrument quality.

How does the instrument work?
Samples of crude oil, heavy oil, residual oil, wax oil, oil slurry, lubricating oil, chromatographic fixative, and oil, etc., are diluted with thinner and then placed on thin rods coated with silica-alumina adsorption. In the chromatographic expansion tank, unfolding and separation are carried out under a certain temperature and humidity; the separated thin rod rod sample enters the detector and is scanned at a certain speed; the ion stream signal is collected and processed by a computer; thus, the analysis result is obtained.
