According to foreign media reports, Google Assistant (Google Assistant) has now been used on 400 million devices, including more 10,000 sales of home smart speakers.
Someone published a blog today saying: “Overall, Google Home Smart Speaker usage during this holiday season has increased by 9 times compared to last year because people applied it to more smart devices during the period. Google said that since 2017 Home Mini smart speakers began shipping, at least one Google home smart device per second has been sold once per second. In 2017, about 6.3 million home smart speakers were sold. As of today, this number has grown to about 6.7 million.
The Google Home Mini smart speaker is designed to compete with Amazon’s Echo Dot smart speakers and it will be available for sale on October 19. The Echo Dot smart speaker is one of the best-selling devices developed by Amazon last year. Amazon announced shortly after Christmas that during this holiday season, tens of millions of devices using the Alexa Assistant have been sold worldwide.
In addition to the Home Mini and Home Max smart speakers introduced this fall, Google Assistant has also extended the use of smart loudspeakers from many brands such as JBL and Sony. Other new devices with built-in Google Assistant include Pixel Buds, Chromebook, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones.
In recent weeks, the Google Assistant has been used on Android 5.0 and Android smartphones, and Google Assistant's SDK application has expanded to hardware manufacturers in Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom. Earlier this year, Google's smartphones have been able to use Android's new system (cotton candy and nougat).
The Google Assistant now supports eight languages, including Japanese, German, and various forms of English in India and Australia.
Competitors such as Google and Amazon and Microsoft are expected to expand their AI assistants to many new devices this year, perhaps at the CES exhibition next week.
